Gboard (Google Keyboard) seems to interact very poorly with the Kinja editor in Chrome. Doesn’t happen with any other browser or app or text entry platform except for the Kinja comment editor. When I try to edit already-written text (like, say, correcting typos) the cursor jumps around and inserts gibberish and duplicate words completely independently of my input.
Try to match my input in the above gif to what’s actually happening on screen and you’ll see what I mean. I replaced “to my liking” with “in a way that I want” and got a complete mess. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I use it, but I don’t post to Oppo on my phone. Haven’t had any issues with it in general.

It’s literally only when writing a comment on Kinja in Chrome. Doesn’t happen anywhere else, even in the post editor. Other browsers are fine, and the default Samsung keyboard is fine.

I use it as well but actually get the same behavior
once and awhile!

Yep, and that’s been happening with Kinja since I started commenting in late 2013.

Yay it's not just me

I don’t, but I use something similar on iOS. And like you, it doesn’t play nicely with Kinja; Safari and Chrome are equally bad, so this leads me to believe that it’s a Kinja thing.

I’ve been experiencing it for years too but it seems to be much worse lately

It did it a lot on my Essential phone. But since they've gone out of business and you can no longer get security updates on it, I purchased a Pixel 3XL to replace it. So far so good.

Probably my biggest pet peeve about kinja. I use SwiftKey on my phone, accessing kinja through Chrome and deal with this as well. Although it seems fine on comments? It’s just the post editor, for whatever weird reason.

See, I only encounter this in comments . The default keyboard and browser work fine but I hate them.

Same for me

Been using a paid version of SwiftKey since gingerbread days of Android. Back then it was the only game in town if you wanted a functional keyboard. Now most keyboards are pretty much the same. Except for the iPhone, I don't know how on earth people type with that!!

It’s always seemed pretty bad to me.

Yep. Happens to me all the time.

And I just jinxed myself, but I caught it before it got worse. I will say that enlarging the spot that you want to correct before moving the cursor helps a lot.

A line break where you’re inserting text usually prevent issues but goddamn is it annoying

I have the same problem on drivetribe. It’s definitely worse on kinj a, but dt does the same thing

Yup. All the time. I just deal with it. Sorry I don't have a solution.

I typically use Minuum for everything, but Kinja as well, and... well, nothing really works well with Kinja, unfortunato.

It has happened to me for years but I just thought it was something in my configuration. I don't know if I'm happy or displeased to learn that it's not just me.
